I found this great wedding planning checklist online, updated it and thought I’d share it with you. Keep in mind that this isn’t set in stone, depending on your needs and wants you may see that certain steps are better either earlier or later in the planning process. This is nothing to stress about as it is just a guide that’s supposed to offer you guidance rather than instruction. And remember, it’s about the commitment you’re making to one another, not the show!
ONCE YOU’RE ENGAGED
• Announce your engagement to family, friends and the world
• Engagement party if you’re keen
• Decide when you want to get married - consider weather, public holidays, events etc.
• Set a wedding budget keeping in mind your vision for your big day
• Pick your Maid of Honour, Best Man, Bridesmaids and Groomsmen
• Start researching possible locations - reception venues & ceremony locations
• Consider if you want a wishing well or maybe look into possible gift registries
• Draft your guest list
ONCE THE WEDDING DATE IS SET
• Book your venue and celebrant
• Decide on your wedding theme / colours
• Design / order your wedding rings
• Start searching for your dream wedding dress and grooms suit
• Finalise your guest list
• Decide on your stationery and send out a save the date if required
• Research your suppliers – photographer, videographer, stylist, florist, cake, MUA, hair stylist, wedding cars, entertainment etc.
• Decide on a honeymoon destination and meet with a travel agent
6-3 MONTHS BEFORE THE WEDDING
• Send out your official wedding invitations
• Confirm your suppliers
• Organise wedding ceremony schedule with your celebrant
• Order wedding bands
• Confirm wedding dress, bridesmaids dress, grooms and groomsmen suits
• Formalise gift registry
• Book honeymoon flights and accommodation
• Book wedding night suite
2-1 MONTHS BEFORE THE WEDDING
• Formalise all necessary documentation for marriage license
• Choose your first dance song
• Pick up wedding rings and ensure sizing is correct
• Organise a pre-wedding photo-shoot if you want one (may have had an engagement shoot)
• Organise a trial for both hair and make-up. Consider an improved skin routine so you’re glowing
6-3 WEEKS BEFORE THE WEDDING
• Have a final fitting for the entire bridal party
• Monitor RSVP’s and follow up with friends and family who haven’t RSVP’d yet
• Confirm final numbers with the wedding reception
• Re-confirm honeymoon details with travel agent
3-1 WEEKS BEFORE THE WEDDING
• Confirm any last minute details with your stylist and venue
• Pick up wedding dress, bridesmaids dresses and groomsmen suits
• Clean engagement ring
• Reconfirm timings for all booked suppliers
• Relax and enjoy the countdown
